Lagos State governor, Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, has been advised to treat all Lagosians equally in respect of political differences, and avoid sycophants.
At today’s Inaugural Church Service at Chapel of Christ The Light, Alausa, the Bishop of Lagos West Anglican Communion, Rt. Rev. Dr. Sola Odedeji, in his sermon urged the governor to be conscious of the people he sorrounds himself with, adding not everyone who comes to him want him to succeed.
He further advised the governor to remember he’s a governor for all Lagosians and not All Progressives Congress (APC) alone.
” Your victory is an act of God therefore you must move in the fear of God. Don’t be crowded by people that you will not have time for God. Don’t be too carried away by prestige of office.
God has so many expectations from you. Don’t disappoint God and people. Remember that your victory is for a purpose. You are responsible to the people but accountable to God,” he advised.
He added: ” People will give you lots of advises but when you are alone, think about all the advises. Be fair, you are not a governor for APC alone but for all even those who campaigned against you. You are not the best but you are the choice. Sorrounds yourself with Godly people.
“Not everyone who smiles at you want you to succeed. Sorrounds yourself with good people to make your work easier. Be conscious of your God given talents. Put smiles on people’s faces
The cleric also cautioned party leaders against ‘pocketing’ the governor, adding ‘ he’s too big to be pocketed.’
“Don’t de-market him and don’t put pressure on him. The governor meant well so don’t intimidate him. Don’t pocket and pollute him. Don’t misinform him. He is too big to be pocketed. He has what it takes to put smiles on everyone’s faces,” he cautioned.
In his response, the governor promised to be fair to all Lagosians and reiterated the need for religious leaders to educate their followers on obeying traffic and environmental laws.
” We will be fair and a blessing to all even to those that voted against us,” the governor promised.
The governor also declared zero tolerance on potholes, promising the state government would, as from next week, begins repair of potholes across the state.
