Nigerian troops on Monday foiled another attempt by gunmen to attack and abduct students in Kaduna State.
The lucky victim is Faith Academy, which is in the same locality with Bethel Baptist Secondary School, Kujama in Chikun Local Government Area of the state where unidentified gunmen, suspected to be bandits had kidnapped an unspecified number of students earlier.
Kaduna has become notorious for mass abduction of students but instead of dealing with the ugly trend, the state governor, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, declared that he preferred bandits to the Independent People of Biafra, as the bandits went about their criminal activities like normal business.
However, schools in Kaduna have become fertile grounds for abduction by the bandits, prompting the governor to withdraw his two children from the public school in which he enrolled them.
The police spokesperson, Muhammad Jalige, in a statement to reporters on Monday confirmed the latest abduction, adding that 26 of the abducted students of the Bethel Baptist Secondary School were rescued.
However, Nigerian soldiers successi repelled the attack on Faith Academy, a secondary school owned by Bishop David Oyedpo’s Living Faith Church Worldwide, aka Winners Chapel.
More details cc are being awaited on the attack.
