River State governor, Nyesome Wike has said the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) is cancer in stage four that can kill.
The governor was responding to calls by the Minister of Niger Delta, Godwill Akpabio for Wike to dump the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the APC.
Akpabio said he would have praised the performance of the governor if he was in APC and urged him to jump ship.
“Because you are not yet in APC, I will not call you a performing governor. The moment you come, I will call you a performing governor. Even the praises we are heaping on you today show clearly that you are in the wrong direction,” Akpabio said.
Reacting to the Minister’s call, Wike said he prefers to stay with malaria than with cancer.
“I prefer to stay where there is malaria than to go to where there is cancer. Cancer at the fourth stage, you’re likely to die. So I don’t want to die now,” Wike said.
Wike was speaking at the commissioning of a new police headquarters in Rivers State where the Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo represented President Muhammadu Buhari.
Wike took a swipe at the NDDC under the ministry of Niger Delta for a litany of abandoned projects in the state.
