APC gov’ship candidate in Benue denies reported arrest by EFCC

Mr. Emmanuel Jime, the All Progressives Congress (APC) Governorship candidate in Benue State, has denied media reports that he was arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

Jime was reported to have been arrested by the anti-graft agency with an undisclosed amount of money meant for vote buying.

He told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Saturday in Makurdi that his rumoured arrest was the handiwork of his political detractors, who were having sleepless nights over his bright chances of winning the election.

“I voted in my polling unit after which I was interviewed by journalists, both local and foreign.

“I also appeared on a live radio programme to address the Benue State people. Right now I am at home waiting for the results of the election.

“Some people are bent on smearing my name but I can tell you nothing like that happened.”

NAN reports that an online publication broke the news that Jime was arrested by the anti-graft agency with a large amount of money meant for vote buying. (NAN)
