All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in the last election in Zamfara State, Mukhtar Idris, was said to have attended the recently-concluded induction for returning governors and new and governors-elect.
Idris was among the participants at the three-day event organised by the Nigerians Governors Forum (NGF) at the Aso Presidential Banquet Hall, Presidential Villa, Abuja.

However, it should be recalled that Idris’s candidacy had been nullified by the Appeal Court, and based on the ruling, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had refused to issue a Certificate of Return to him. Although Idris and the APC had appealed the matter at the Supreme Court, however, based on the appeal court verdict, Idris could not be recognised as a governor-elect at the event.
