Yuletide: Okitipupa LG begins road rehabilitation

Omo’oba Abayomi Adesanya, the Caretaker Chairman, Okitipupa Local Government Area of Ondo State, has begun the rehabilitation of all major roads across the council area ahead of the yuletide.

Adesanya told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Wednesday in Okitipupa that he recently inaugurated “Operation Zero Potholes” in order to make all major roads accessible to residents, devoid of accidents during yuletide.

He explained that most of the major roads were laden with pot-holes, which was as a result of prolonged rains and if not attended to might continue to cause accidents if not rehabilitated.

Adesanya said the first phase of the exercise would cover Okitipupa – Ikoya – Ilutitun – Igbotako – Akinfosile road while the second phase will cover Okitipupa – Ode Aye – Ore axis and other major roads within the council area.

“The rehabilitation is to facilitate ease of movement for travellers, as many sons and daughters of the local government at home and in the diaspora will be using the road during the yuletide.

“We want to ensure that motorists and commuters travel with minimal discomfort, we believe this will minimise cases of road crashes on our roads during the yuletide,” he said.

Adesanya, however, called on motorists to drive with caution by observing all signs put in place for men working on the road rehabilitation. (NAN)
