YAN passes vote of confidence on Sanwo-Olu, commends gov on youth empowerment, infrastructure

The Youth Assembly of Nigeria, YAN, has passed vote of confidence on the administration of Lagos State governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, for various initiatives and programmes that has allowed youths to excel in the state.

While speaking at its South West briefing on Wednesday with the theme ‘The role of Youths in Nation building: the spirit of Lagos,’ the national speaker of the group, Olusegun Famuyibo, said Lagos State government has served as a model for other states to copy in terms of youth initiatives and positive engagement between the government and the youths which has fostered peace and unity in the state.

“We are happy with what Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu is doing in Lagos. Projects are being commissioned, new infrastructure and capital development as well as youth empowerment are being done. All these are worthy of commendation, ” he said.

Famuyibo further commended the governor for appointing ‘workaholic youthful commissioner’, Mobolaji Ogunlende as Commissioner for Youths, saying because of this’ we pass the vote of confidence on governor Sanwo-Olu.’

While commending the Minister of Youths and Social Development for his efforts in repositioning the ministry, they asked for collaboration between the ministry and the group on all programs involving youths.

They appealed to President Bola Tinubu to address high rate of consumable goods in the country and promised to continue to support the government in the all it’s programs for youths.

“As youth leaders, we shall continue to promote peace and tranquility throughout Nigeria among youths regardless of their tribe, religion and ethnicity,” Famuyibo said on behalf of the group.

The Senior Special Assistant on Special Duties to Governor Sanwo-Olu, Oluwatobi Oladepo assured the group that the state government is committed t to supporting youths in the state so as to foster sustainable growth and development in its bid to achieve its THEMES + agenda.

Oladepo said the administration of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has proactively involved youths in governance through various political appointments leaving no one behind while developing their skills and creating opportunities for them to impact their society positively.

The Patron of the group,  Adeyinka Oyediran urged Nigerian government to develop and invest in the youths because they are the engine of the nation’s economy.

He encouraged the younger generation to stand the test of time and excel in their various field so that Nigeria would be better.

Adeyinka noted by investing in youths, Nigerian youths will be able to perform well like their counterparts in other parts of the world.

The event also witnessed the presentation of newly appointed directors and ambassadors of the group selected from different local governments in the state.
