Woman who jumped into Lagoon was DSS officer, report says

A lady has reportedly committed suicide by jumping into Lagoon on Thursday afternoon from the third mainland bridge, Lagos.

This was disclosed by The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA).

According to the agency, the over 30 year old lady alighted from a car hired service on the bridge and jumped into the lagoon before she could be stopped.

The driver of the taxi reportedly raised the alarm after the lady suddenly asked him to stop the car, alighted and jumped into the lagoon.

Before the incident, she was overheard having a heated conversation with her fiance on phone and after ending the call, sh came down from the car and committed suicide.

The Permanent Secretary, LASEMA, Dr Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, said that search has commenced for her , adding that the emergency team has expanded the search to ensure that she was brought out alive from the water.

Other emergency agencies such as Lagos Response Team (LRT), Lagos State fire and rescue service, LASWA and officials of the Department of State Service (DSS) are currently on ground working better together to search for the victim.

Osanyintolu appealed to Nigerians, to speak out whenever they suffer depression.
