Woman in viral ‘Mummy Calm Down’ video commits suicide

The woman whose son pleaded in the viral ‘Mummy Calm Down’ video has reportedly killed herself.

The mother of three, Toluige Olokoobi Babalola, on November 6 allegedly committed suicide in Benin, the Edo State capital.
The news was broken on X (formerly Twitter) by a user with the handle @sammydo214, who claimed to be a neighbour of the family in Benin.

Toluige and her young son went viral in 2020 when she shared a video she shot of him pleading with her to “calm down” when she wanted to discipline him.

The video caught the attention of  several Nigerians, including the Lagos State governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, who invited the family over to his office to meet with the boy.

The family also got a couple of endorsements and a Nollywood role for Oreofe.

Sadly, the news has broken that the woman allegedly took her own life, leaving her husband and three little children.

“The woman in the viral ‘Mummy Calm Down’ video has just committed suicide here in Benin. She refused to speak to anyone about her problems. She left behind three kids for her husband, including the popular ‘Mummy Calm Down’ boy,” Samuel wrote.
