Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State has taken a swipe at Mr. Tonye Cole, governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state after Siminalayi Fubara of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) was declared winner of the election.
Speaking at the Government House, in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital, Governor Wike observed that Mr. Cole had never mounted a successful statewide political campaign for his desire to become governor of the state but he had relied solely on his ‘godfather’ to make that happen.
Governor Wike emphasised that the PDP eventually won control of his town, Ward, and local government area after he had relied on his ‘godfather’, apparently referring to immediate past Minister of Transportation, Mr. Rotimi Amaechi.

The Rivers State governor continued, saying that they (Amaechi and Cole) had forgotten that the people of Rivers State had overwhelmingly decided to reject them at the polls.
According to Governor Wike, “Because his Party was hopelessly divided and he was waiting for his godfather and business associate Rotimi Amaechi to mysteriously become governor, Tonye Cole never managed to run any successful political campaigns. Rotimi Amaechi was evicted from his neighborhood, ward, and local government district”.
