The police in Osun State have attributed the murder of a suspected Internet fraudster, one Oguntade Wasiu, by his colleagues to envy.
The two suspects, Wahab Hammed, 28, and 31-year-old Adegoke Ayobami, have since been arrested and paraded at the police headquarters in Osogbo for alleged conspiracy, armed robbery and murder.
According to Yemisi Opalola, spokesperson of the Osun State Police Command, the duo was arrested, following a case of missing person, which was reported at the B Division Modakeke on August 7, 2022.

“Immediately, preliminary investigation was carried out and one Wahab Hammed, a friend of the missing person, now deceased, was arrested in connection with the case,” she disclosed.
“Consequently, the case was transferred to the Anti-Robbery section of the Command State Criminal Investigation Department for discreet investigation and swiftly the team extended its investigation tentacles to Alaro area of Modakeke where one Adegoke Ayobami was arrested on 12/8/22.”
Opalola explained that the deceased was friend with the suspects with whom he was involved Internet fraud. However, his friends were envious of his success, leading to his murder.

Having discovered that the deceased was always making money more than them?y, the duo conspired and lured their friend (the deceased) to an uncompleted building in a remote part of Alaro area, Modakeke in a bid to collect money from him and in the course of struggle he was killed.
“The suspects made away with the victim’s motorcycle, which was recovered from the second suspect’s house,” adding that the suspects would have their day in court at the end of investigation.
