Senate Chief Whip, Sen. Orji Uzor Kalu, has explained why the South East deserves the Senate Presidency despite giving the All Progressives Congress (APC) few votes from the region.
Recall that during the February 25 Presidential election, President-elect Bola Tinubu received the fewest votes in the South East.
But after his meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari at the Presidential Villa, Sen. Kalu told reporters that zoning the Senate Presidency to the region would bring peace and unity to the table.
He stated that the unity of the country should take precedence over the number of votes cast.
Sen. Kalu also emphasised the importance of peace over votes.
Recall that the business mogul has signified his interest in becoming the Senate President in the 10th Senate.
