Why I did not honour Osibanjo’s invitation -Mr. Macaroni

Nigerian skitmaker, Debo err Adebayo popularly called Mr. Macaroni has said he didn’t attend the meeting with skit makers called by the Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo because of the attitude of the leaders to national issues.

Mr. Macaroni was responding to criticisms that he deserted his fellow comedians who visited the Vice President on Friday.

He denied reports that he was sidelined and said he declined the invitation in protest.

“So I don’t think those that went to see the VP without me or anyone else meant to sideline me. I want to believe they were invited to see The VP by the organizers of an Award Ceremony the same way I was invited. The only difference is that I declined the invitation,” he said.

According to the activist, the leaders are aware of the issues in the country but decide not to do anything about them, hence his refusal to honour the invitation.

“I have just seen too much to know that The Govt sees and hears everything. They and their workers are always on the Internet. They know what we cry and complain about and they do nothing about it. So what will sitting down with them to tell them what they already know change?”

The activist has come under fire for ‘trying to cancel’ his fellow comedians who visited the Vice President.

Journalist, David Hundehin said the skit makers were used only for photo opportunities with the Vice President and commended Macaroni for opting out of the event.

“They used them for a photo op. A bit disappointed that none of them rated themselves enough to reject the invitation and stand for something.

But hey. They’re just social media skit makers. Could be more if they wanted to, but not everyone can be Debo,” Hundeyin said.
