Michael Stephens, the Nigerian musician popularly known as Ruggedman, has explained why he is yet to get married and have a child at the age of 51.
While speaking on the rationale behind his single life, Ruggedman said his decision not to have a child yet was borne out of a vow he made while growing up that he would not give birth to a child before getting married.
He said he has ensured to keep to his vow since he is yet to meet a woman of his choice acting he does not even have a love child anywhere.
“The crazy thing is, when I was much younger, I vowed not to have a child out of wedlock. So, I still don’t know whether I made the right decision because it takes a lot from both parties.,” Ruggedman said
He noted that his desire is to get married to someone who genuinely wants to be with him or he wants to be with.
Ruggedman recalled that he has met several women over the years adding that he once had a relationship with a woman which he thought would lead into marriage. However, he said the relationship collapsed after the lady’s mother allowed her to marry a man who was richer than him and was given her (mother) contracts.
He said though there are pressures from different quarters for him to get married but said he would not succumb to such pressures.
He dispelled the notion that he is a difficult person to relate with which has prevented him from getting married adding that he is a principled and responsible person who does not bend and will not want to make decisions about marriage that he will later regret.
The musician noted that he has learned from some individuals who “knowingly” made wrong decisions despite knowing it is not the right thing for them.
