As the National Deaf Football team popularly called ‘Special Eagles’ go into camping ahead of the 9th West African Deaf Football championship, holding from September 24- October 5, in Freetown, Sierra- Leone, Secretary General of Deaf Sports Federation of Nigeria, Lukman Agbabiaka has appealed to corporate Nigeria to bail them out.
The team began camping for the tournament on Tuesday September 10, under the watchful eyes of national deaf coach Kamiludeen Banjo.

Agbabiaka, told The Nigerian Xpress Sports that although they’ve received some financial support from the Ministry of Youths and Sports, it will not be enough to take care of the 22-man team and five officials that will eventually make the trip to Sierra- Leone.
“We’re preparing seriously to ensure we lift the trophy for a record four times. It’s true that the Sports Ministry gave us some money but it will not be enough to take care of our camping, tickets, accommodation, feeding and other sundry expenses and that’s why we’re making this appeal. Right now, we’ve written letters to Super Sports, Fidson, Chief Kensington Adebutu ( Baba Ijebu), Femi Otedola and Folunsho Alakija and we hope they and other philanthropists will come to our aid,” he said.
