We didn’t link Kano mysterious deaths to Coronavirus, says PTF

The Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 has denied media reports that it linked the recent mysterious deaths in Kano State to the pandemic.

The leader of PTF, Dr. Nasiru Gwarzo, was quoted by media reports on Sunday to claiming that the mysterious deaths  in the state resulted from COVID-19.

However, Gwarzo told the BBC Hausa service, on Monday morning, that he was misquoted.

He said: “More than 80% of what I said was on the collection of samples from people and how the disease affects individuals and not on the issue of the mysterious deaths,” adding that since the committee was still investigating, nothing had been confirmed yet.

He confirmed though that findings by his committee had found out that some of the dead showed symptoms similar to COVID-19.
