Victor Ochei mourns ex-Delta Ag. gov, Sam Obi

A former Speaker of the  Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Ho. Victor Ochei, has expressed deep grief over the demise of another former speaker of the Delta legislature and one-time acting governor of the state, Rt Hon. Sam Obi.

In a statement, Ochei who is the Executive Director, Maritime Labour and Cabotage Services at NIMASA, observed that, though Obi’s passage came as a rude shock, it underscores the inevitability of death as a mortal obligation, adding that this unpalatable development has robbed Delta State, Nigeria and humankind of a seasoned three-time
legislator.
The former Speaker recalled that Obi, who represented the Ika North-East state constituency, was a pragmatic administrator who became Acting governor of the state, when a temporary vacuum occurred, adding that the deceased was also an accomplished statesman.
According to him, “As a fellow debutant legislator at the Delta state legislature in 2003 through 2015, Rt. Hon. Obi was a character of immense and infectious personality, humble, peaceful, compassionate, kind, decisive – all alluring attributes that made him a source of inspiration in diverse endeavours.
A statement from Ochei’s Chief Press Secretary, Nkem Osu, noted that while praying for the repose of the ex-lawmaker’s soul, Ochei urged the immediate family, friends, followers and contemporaries of the late lawmaker-turned pastor to taken solace in the fact that during his earthly sojourn, he exhibited utmost commitment to the Lord’s vineyard, in his capacity as founder and pastor of the Asaba-based Oracle of God Ministry.
