Veteran broadcast journalist and a former Director-General of the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC), Nasir Danladi Bako, has been conferred with a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D) by the Ahmadu Bello University, in Zaria, Kaduna State.
Bako was honoured alongside several students who bagged various degrees at the 42nd convocation ceremony of the university, which marked its Diamond Jubilee graduating the 2018/2019 set as well as 2020/2021set of graduands.
Bako bagged a Ph. D in Development Communication which he completed in 2019.
But due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the strike embarked upon by the Academic Staff of Universities Union (ASUU) strike, the university authorities deferred had the Convocation ceremony till Saturday, January 28.
Among the honorary doctorate degree (Honoris causa) recipients were the a former Military Governor of Kano State, Col. Sani Bello (rtd) under the General Yakubu Gowon regime and the current Deputy Secretary General of the United Nation’s Ms Amina Mohammed.
Also, Governor Nasir el- Rufai of Kaduna State and Emir of Zaria, Amb. Nuhu Bamalli were Chairman and Father or the Day at the occasion, respectively.
The Committee of friends and associates of the Kogunan Sokoto and a former Commissioner of Information in Sokoto State, Dr. Nasir Danladi Bako, felicitated with him on this remarkable achievement bagging a doctorate degree 45 years after his first degree in 1978 , a Bachelor’s degree in English.
