UNILAG Muslim Alumni host Islamic scholars, public for Ramadan Lecture

A renowned scholar, Sheikh Dhikrullahi Shafi’i, a legal giant, Dr. Muiz Banire (SAN), are the invited lecturers, who will on Sunday, March 26, deliver this year’s annual Ramadan Lecture organised by the University of Lagos Muslim Alumni (UMA).

The lecture tagged National Transformation: Between Responsible Leaders and Responsive citizenry will hold at Prof. Nurudeen Alao Hall (DLI), UNILAG Campus, Akoka, Lagos.

According to UMA President, Prof Khalid Adekoya, the lecture planned earlier for last Sunday as the 28th Annual Pre-Ramadan Lecture, was shifted due to the rescheduled Governorship and Assembly election by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

He described Sheikh Shafi’i, the Grand Mufti of the Conference of Islamic Organisations (CIO) as a reputable scholar with large audience within and outside the shores of the country.

Prof. Adekoya said Dr. Banire’s weekly scholastic piece has endeared him to Nigerians home and abroad, expressing optimism that participants at this year’s lecture would not regret attending the programme.

Chairman Organising Committee of the UMA, Fatai Bakare said beside the soul inspiring lectures, there will also be free medical service for the participants.

Bakare said the event will be chaired by the Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of Yinka Folawiyo Group, Alhaji Tijani Babatunde Folawiyo while the Vice-Chancellor of UNILAG, Prof Folasade Ogunsola will be Chief Host.
