Some students of the University of Abuja, Gwagwalada on Thursday decried what they described as worsening inadequate hostel accommodation in the institution.
Some of the students who spoke with News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in separate interviews said the situation was not getting any better.
Adebisi Babtunde, a 200 level Geography student said she had booked for hostel accommodation online, yet was not given.
“I am squatting with a friend for now. I need my own space to feel comfortable.
Another female student who pleaded anonymity said she was surprised to notice that no 500 level Law student was allocated hostel space.

“What I know they usually do is to allocate hostel space to first year and final year students.
” I am surprised that no final year Law student was given hostel accommodation this year,” she said.
Peter Ocholi, a Theatre Art student, however, described the problem of accommodation in this school was a usual occurrence.
Suleiman Umar, another Theatre Art student confirmed that he had no hostel space, but was putting up with a friend off campus.
Prof. Otaki Alabama, the Dean, Student Affairs of the institution confirmed the development.
He told NAN that the school management was doing all everything to address the situation.
“The truth is that there is no hostel accommodation for students right now. We have allocated all available spaces.
“The management had earlier said we should evacuate everything in the hostels before allocating spaces, which we have done, ” he said. (NAN)
