Umahi: APC seeks revenge, sues Tambuwal, Ortom, Obaseki for defecting to PDP

The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) is reportedly on a revenge mission against the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), following the sacking of Ebonyi State Governor, David Umahi, and his deputy by the Federal High Court, sitting in Abuja, over his defection from the PDP to the APC.

Consequently, the APC is reportedly considering dragging Governors Aminu Tambuwal, Sokoto, Godwin Obaseki, Edo, and Samuel Ortom, Benue to court for defecting to the PDP before the 2019 elections.

The court had held that having won the election on the platform of the PDP, Umahi could not transfer the party’s votes to APC.

Apart from the three governors, APC also wants the court to bar former Senate President, Bukola Saraki, another decampee from the APC to PDP, from contesting any elective position in the country for 30 years.

The APC quest is obviously a bid to even scores with the opposition party.

However, some argue that the APC is standing on shaky grounds because Tambuwal, Ortom and Obaseki did not win governorship elections on the APC platform and then defect to PDP. Obaseki, for instance, was denied the APC ticket before the PDP gave him it’s platform on which he contested the election and won.
