Tribunal grants AA’s application to withdraw suit challenging Gov. Ihedioha’s victory

The Imo State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal, sitting in Owerri, has granted the application filed by the Action Alliance party to withdraw from the suit challenging the election victory of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate and incumbent governor of the state, Emeka Ihedioha, in the last governorship elections.

While ruling on the application filed by AA national leadership which claimed that the party was not consulted by its governorship candidate, Uche Nwosu, taking the action, Tribunal Chairman, Justice Mathew Adewara, granted the request of the party’s counsel.

Following the request, Justice Adewara removed AA as a party to the suit challenging Governor Ihedioha’s victory in the last governorship election which held in March in the state.

Reacting to the ruling, AA’s counsel, Okey Ehieze commended the tribunal for granting the request of the party.

According to him, the party is not ready to go into a rerun election which is one of the major prayers of its governorship candidate, Uche Nwosu.

Meanwhile, PDP’s counsel, Jerry Egemba described the ruling as a welcome development.
