Train/BRT collision: Lagos arraigns BRT driver, charge him for manslaughter

The Lagos State Government, on Tuesday, arraigned the driver of a Lagos State Bus Rapid Transit, Osibanjo Oluwaseun, before an Ikeja High Court in connection with a collision he had with a moving train in Ikeja.

The bus was conveying staff of the Lagos state government when it collided with a train at PWD railway crossing. The accident reportedly resulted in the deaths of six people.

The defendant, who was arraigned before Justice Oyindamola Ogala, was charged on 16 counts charge bordering on involuntary manslaughter and previous harm, preferred against him by the state government.

The Director of Public Prosecutions, Babajide Martins, told the court that the BRT driver negligently killed the victims by ignoring warning signals and ran into an on-coming train.
He said the defendant also negligently DSinflicted grievous harm on 10 other passengers on the bus.
