Tragedy hits Anambra as unknown gunmen kill scores in suspected cult clash

 

No fewer than 16 persons were on Sunday feared killed by unknown gunmen in Nibo community, Awka South Local Government Area of Anambra State.

It was gathered that the incident, involving mostly youths is traceable to activities of cult groups who clashed in the community.

A viral video showed gory images of the dead on the ground.

According to a Facebook user who made the post: “Please avoid Nibo today. Many feared dead already. They said it’s cult clash. Our youths are dying in their numbers.”

Ifeyinwa Okeke, another Facebook user, also commented on the incident, said the emergency ward at the state university’s teaching hospital was filled with victims.

“Our emergency ward at Amaku Teaching Hospital, Awka is filled with victims from there. It was terrible,” she wrote.

There is no official comment on the incident as at the time of filing this report.
