Tragedy as couple loses two children after tree crashed into their home

A couple, Crystal and Herbert Taylor, of Sandersvile, Georgia have lost their two children, a seven year old Harmony, 7, and four year old Derrick, after an oak tree crashed into their house and killed the kids in United States of America.

The crash was caused by Hurricane Helene which occurred in September 26.

Narrating the incident, 39-year old Herbert, 39 who is the father said the family had gone to bed on the night of the incident with the the two deceased children and their third child, 11-year old Cassidy, when Hurricane Helene happened

“After going to bed, around 4:00 a.m. local time the next morning, my mom woke me up to ask about our trees and if they were still standing,” said 34-year old mother Crystal.

“As the wind began to pick up, Herbert took a peek outside and was heading back to the bedroom where Harmony and Derrick were sleeping when a massive oak tree fell through the house and onto the bed. Herbert screamed, “My babies!”

The crash reportedly resulted into an electrical fire and the family called 911.

On arrival of the responders, the fire was put out , but efforts to rescue Harmony and Derrick proved difficult as rescuers find it difficult to remove the tree.

Their bodies were however removed after five hours of painstaking efforts by responders.

The burial ceremony has been fixed for Sunday, October 6.

“As a family, we are thankful for the happiness we’ve known. When your angels come for (them)much sooner than we planned, we’ll brave the grief that comes and try to understand,” said the couple in a message sent to sympathisers.
