Traders seek Ihedioha’s immediate intervention on deplorable Naze-Egbu Road

The Owerri Timber Traders Association in Imo State on Wednesday appealed to the state government to urgently repair the Naze Egbu Road leading to the market.

The Chairman of the association, Mr. Christopher Amafill, told newsmen in Owerri that the road was in a terrible state of disrepair and required urgent attention.

Amafill said that business and other economic activities in the market had suffered a major setback due to the deplorable condition of the road.

According to him, truck drivers now avoid coming to either deliver luggage or carry wood from the market because of the worrisome state of the road.

He regretted that the market, which provides job to a large number of people that operate daily in the place, was about shutting down because customers could no longer access the market.

“Majority of our customers have abandoned the market because of their inability to get trucks to convey their purchased planks out of the market.

“This has made many of us to lose millions of naira, while some have threatened to shut down their shops and relocate out of the market due to the ugly state of the road,” Amafill said.

He therefore called on Gov. Emeka Ihedioha to come to the rescue of the traders and save their businesses from total collapse. (NAN)
