Tinubu triumphs as Supreme Court dismisses APM’s appeal

A seven-member panel of the Supreme Court, headed by Justice John Okoro, has dismissed the appeal filed by the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) challenging the nomination of Kashim Shettima as the Vice Presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the controversial presidential election.
Chukwuma Majukwu Umeh, the  appellant’s counsel, had applied to withdraw the matter resulting in its dismissal by the apex court.
Earlier, the panel had noted that the appeal was frivolous since the Supreme Court had, in a previous case, involving the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and others, upheld Shettima nomination.
Justice Okoro held that the matter had no benefit for the appelant despite Umeh’s spirited effort to   distinguish his client’s case from that of the PDP v. INEC and others, leading to it’s withdrawal.
