Tinubu gets bashed for joining Twitter #LabourChallenge started by Peter Obi’s supporters

Bola Tinubu, presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has come under heavy criticism on Twitter for joining an internet trend.

In a tweet on Friday, Tinubu posted a picture of himself with some youths, lauding them for being hardworking, and then added “#labourchallenge” to the tweet.

“Working hard to secure our future, one for all Nigerians, for our families and our great nation. Hard work is Nigerian. Proud to be working hard with Nigerians by my side. #labourchallenge #BAT23,” he wrote.

The internet trend — #LabourChallenge — which is rippling on social media, especially on Twitter, was started by Nigerians backing the presidential bid of Peter Obi, candidate of the Labour Party (LP).

Tinubu, on Tuesday, at the APC governorship rally in Osun, described the LP as “a mushroom party”.

The APC presidential candidate said the main opposition party — the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) — and other political parties “will labour till they die”.

Obi, who responded to the former Lagos governor’s outburst, said the comment came from a place of hatred, but the LP would respond with love.

“I listened to our national chairman when he said that somebody said that they can labour till death. When they talk like that, when they show you hatred, Labour Party will show them love. There is dignity in labour,” he said.

In solidarity with the LP presidential candidate, Nigerians started the challenge showing their vocations accompanied with a write-up saying there is dignity in labour.
