An orgasm is a feeling of intense pleasure that happens during sexual activity.
It’s sometimes called coming or climaxing.
For most people who have had orgasms, their hearts beat faster and their breathing sometimes, change.
While some women may ejaculate when having the experience, with a clear fluid spurting from glands close to the urethra during intense sexual excitement or during orgasm, for men, an orgasm makes their muscles contract releasing some semen and making it impossible for them to have another orgasm for a while.
Despite all said and observed, however, experts have noted that most women don’t know what orgasm is all about and they really don’t care about it whereas they should. Below is why:
It’s Stress Relief
Orgasms release oxytocin into your brain, which is a pleasure hormone that makes you feel so good. In fact, one study that included 2,632 women between the ages of 23 and 90 found that 39 per cent of women who are made to reach orgasm, do it in order to relax and they get some relief immediately.
Better Sleep
Orgasming regularly is also associated with better sleep quality. According to experts, that’s because of the combination of relaxation hormones like oxytocin and lower blood pressure post-orgasm.

Gives A Healthy Heart
A bunch of studies have also reported that sex and orgasm are good for your heart, both because they’re a good workout and because they lower your blood pressure, reduce stress, and improve your emotional health. So, you see, you really don’t need to put yourself through the road of heart problem and worst of all, a surgery. Hell no! Just get yourself in line with intercourse that will culminate into real orgasm and you will be doing your heart a huge favour.
Natural Headache Relief
If you suffer from migraine or a cluster of headache, you need not depend totally on drugs. Before you reach for the painkillers, try getting yourself to some orgasm. Findings backed this up with a record of about 1,000 people who had either migraines or cluster headaches, and 60 per cent of migraine patients having some relief and 91 per cent of cluster headache patients who had “moderate to complete relief” after orgasming.
Pain Relief
Apart from headaches, frequent orgasm is also associated with general pain relief. A Sex Therapist, Mrs Jane Darlington, said in one of her researches that pain tolerance increased by 74.6 per cent and pain detection increased by 106.7 per cent in women who masturbated to orgasm.
Better Immunity
Orgasming more frequently might boost your immune system, too. When levels of immunoglobin A (IgA), an antigen that helps our bodies fight back against colds and flus were measured in some people, they found that the men who had sex less than once a week had slightly higher levels of IgA than those who didn’t have sex at all.
They also found out that orgasm increased the number of leukocytes in their blood. Leukocytes are our body’s white blood cells that attack foreign substances and disease. So, while there may not be a cure for the common cold, orgasm just might help you get well quicker.

Increased Blood Flow To The Brain
Since orgasm is equivalent to masturbation, a discovery that put some women in an MRI machine and instructed them to masturbate found out that blood flow to the brain increased at the point of orgasm.
Ensures Longer Life
If you thought the key to a long life was a healthy diet and regular exercise… you were probably right. But sex and orgasm can definitely be included in that exercise. A study from researchers found that in 918 men between the ages of 45 and 59, the men who had two or more orgasms per week were half as likely to die from coronary heart disease than those who orgasmed less than once a month.
As for the ladies, a long-term study from some researchers examined the sex lives of couples and compared that original data with the death certificates of all of them women, 20 years later, and found that the women who orgasmed more frequently lived longer than those who weren’t getting off regularly.
