Some gunmen suspected to be terrorists, on Wednesday, killed a Divisional Police Officer (DPO), during an attack on Jibia town in the Jibia Local Government Area of Katsina State. Eyewitnesses said that the slain security operative, A. A. Rano, was the officer in charge of the Divisional Police Headquarters in Jibia until his death.
Although the gunmen’s casualties were unknown, residents claimed that a soldier was killed and another was injured.

The incident has yet to be confirmed by state police and military authorities. Gambo Isah, the Katsina Police Public Relations Officer, could not be reached immediately. The injured military operative, a Nigerian Army officer, was shot in the leg, according to reports.
According to residents of Jibia, the gunmen attacked the town, on Tuesday night, firing gunshots at random to create panic.
