Tears and sorrow in Benue as armed men kill woman, son, brother-in-law, 2 others

Katsina-Ala Local Government and Gwer West area councils of Benue State were yesterday thrown into grief, following the killing of five persons by gunmen.

In the two separate attacks, armed men reportedly killed a woman, her son and her brother-in-law Nagu village after burning part of the village.

The attack also left several persons injured while many have reportedly fled their homes to neighbouring villages for fear of their lives.

The attack on the village in came barely three days after a similar attack on the private residence of the council chairman in Katsina-Ala town where three police officers and two others were killed.

However, the second attack, which is suspected cult-related violence, occurred yesterday morning in the High-Level Area of Naka town in Gwer West LGA of the state. Two young men also lost their lives in the attack.
