The Yoruba socio-cultural group, Afenifere, has announced the arrest of the suspected killers of Pa Reuben Fasoranti’s daughter, Mrs. Funke Olakunrin, nine months after her gruesome murder.
Pa Fasoranti is leader of the Yoruba socio-cultural group.
Mrs. Olakunrin, the second daughter of the Afenifere leader, was allegedly killed by suspected Fulani herdsmen who emerged from the bush, shot her and killed her in the process.
The incident, it was gathered, occurred between Kajola and Ore along Ondo-Ore road nine years ago.
Afenifere, in a statement, revealed that the Ondo State Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) had arrested four suspects over the brutal murder of Mrs. Olakurin.
The group’s spokesman, Yinka Odumakin, made the disclosure in a statement made available to our correspondent, on Monday.
According to him, three out of the four suspects arrested so far are from the northern part of the country and that they had made useful confessions to the police.
According to the statement, “We commend the dedicated officers who made the arrest just as we wait for a thorough investigation to follow. We have resolved to encourage the police to do their job properly.
“We appreciate all Nigerians who have encouraged our 94-year-old leader in this troubling season. It is our prayer that criminals will not go unpunished again in our country.”
