USA based patron of Rangers, Chief Benson MVP Ejindu has hailed the appointment of Benedict Surugede Ugwu as interim manager of the Enugu Flying Antelopes.
Ejindu who spoke yesterday on Ugwu’s appointment described it as …good for Rangers, even as he expressed joy over the club’s return to the continent after finishing third in the just concluded NPFL season.
“Ugwu is good for Rangers. He was one of those that made Rangers tick in his heyday as a player. I m confident he would do well as coach of the club. I m happy Rangers are back to the continent and I pray they do well and improve on their performance this term,” Ejindu said.
Rangers early this week named Ugwu as their interim manager after the expiration of the one year contract of Gbenga Ogunbote who led the club to win the FA Cup last season.
Ugwu made his mark playing for Rangers as well as the defunct BCC Lions of Gboko and was part of the Gboko side’s squad that won the CAF Cup Winners competition under the late Coach Amodu Shaibu.
The club also retained 18 players for the new season which kicks off next month.
