The Lagos State Government has cautioned residents of the state to stop patronising  marketers selling fuel in the, black market at the price higher than the one approved by the government.

The Deputy Governor,  Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat, while on inspection tour, on Friday, of some filling stations within Lagos metropolis to monitor the compliance of filling stations with the new price, urged the people to desist from panic buying, saying since fuel subsidy had gone, there was enough volume of fuel available for residents.

He  explained that subsidising fuel for the rich is not sustainable, adding that Lagos, being  the epicenter of everything, is home to  40 percent of cabs and  whatever that affects Lagos will affect other parts of the country.

“For us, it is to make sure that there is no scarcity, people don’t need to rush. Prices have gone up but in terms of volume, there is enough volume. So there is no question of scarcity. Don’t patronize black marketers,” Hamzat said.
