The Kwara State Government has approved a temporary palliative measure of reduced working hours to three days per week in the public service
Coming on the heels of the harsh effects of the subsidy removal on petrol by the Federal Government and the threats by the Labour force to embark on a nation-wide protest strike over the subsidy removal the State Government said the cut in the working days was to bring some ease to its workers.
A statement by the State Head of Service (HOS), Mrs. Susan Modupe Oluwole said the State Governor, Mallam Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, has directed that the workdays be reduced from five days to three days per week for every worker.
Mrs Oluwole directed all Heads of Ministries, Departments and Agencies, MDAs in the State to immediately work out a format indicating the alternating work days for each worker under them.
The Head of Service however, warned the workers not to abuse the magnanimity of the Governor, stressing that the regular monitoring of MDAs by her office would be intensified to ensure strict compliance.
