Sokoto guber Tribunal: APC floors Gov. Tambuwal in first round as ruling begins

An election petition tribunal handling the recent governorship poll, in Sokoto State declared, on Wednesday, October 2, that the petition of the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Ahmed Aliyu, is valid in law.

The declaration came as the Tribunal commenced ruling on the election victory of incumbent Governor Aminu Tambuwal of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) during the 2019 exercise.

It was gathered that the Tribunal stated this against the objections raised by the PDP and Governor Tambuwal.

The duo had urged the court to dismiss the petition of the APC candidate for lacking in merit, but their prayer was unanimously dismissed.

The Tribunal, led by Justice Abbas Bawale, said the application by Governor Tambuwal and the PDP lacks merit and constituted waste of judicial time.
