Sen. Ibezim felicitates with constituents at Christmas, marks birthday

Sen. Francis Chukwuma Ibezim, representing Imo North at the National Assembly, has felicitated with Nigerian Christians, especially members of his constituency, on the occasion of this year’s Christmas  celebration.

The lawmaker urged Christians to reflect upon the goodness of God in giving humanity His only begotten son, Jesus Christ, whose birth is being celebrated in this season.

“This is a season of joy,” Ibezim said. “It again affords us an opportunity to show appreciation to God, who gave humanity the greatest gift of all time, His son, Jesus Christ.

“The essence of Christmas is the celebrant, the Lord Jesus. So, as we celebrate, let us reflect upon this great gift and reciprocate by giving God our lives and honouring Him with worthy and excellent service.

“This is also an opportunity to bring back peace and healing to our land. Christmas symbolises the love of God. Therefore, let us all eschew bitterness and hate. Let us love one another and share whatever blessings God has given to us with others, especially the needy ones among us,” the distinguished senator said.

Ibezim particularly urged aggrieved citizens in the South-east, especially in his constituency, Imo North Senatorial District, to sheathe their swords and explore peaceful resolution of whatever grouse they have.

“We are killing ourselves and hurting our economy. People are now afraid to travel home. There is no wisdom in being your own enemy. This is not the way to go. No matter the grievances, I plead with all and sundry to give peace a chance. We shall surely triumph,” he said.

The lawmaker also encouraged Nigerians to exercise their right to vote and elect credible leaders in the 2023 elections, adding that the ballot, not gunfire, remains the most potent weapon that could be deployed to bring desired changes in society.

Ibezim, who recently marked his birthday without fun fair had said on the occasion that his life is about service to humanity.

“All my life I have had nothing but the zeal to serve, to be a part of the machinery of governance and to truly impact people. Today, I can say that I have been blessed with the joy of seeing my dreams come true. I know that I can never be all things to all men and women but I serve.”

He appreciated all that rejoiced with him and prayed for God’s continued guidance and magnanimity.
