Sen. Dickson mourns ex-Dep. Senate President, Ibrahim Mantu

The senator representing Bayelsa West in the National Assembly, Sen. Seriake Dickson, has expressed shock over the death of a former deputy Senate President, Alhaji Ibrahim Mantu.

In a statement, Sen. Dickson described the late Mantu as “strong ally in both the party (PDP) and politics of Nigeria.”

The statement read, “It is with sadness that I received this morning, the news of the passing of Senator Ibrahim Mantu, former Deputy President of the Senate and one of the political leaders of our party and our country and a man who was my strong ally in both the party and politics of Nigeria.

“He spoke with me from his sickbed yesterday and we prayed for him to get better only for me to be informed this morning of his passing.

“I have visited the widow, the children and other members of the family this morning. I call for prayers for their comfort and also prayers for the repose of his soul.

“Senator Mantu was an elder statesman and quintessential political organiser, skills which will be sorely missed in our party in which he was a very influential rallying point and in the country at large.

“My condolences once again to his family, his allies and friends across the length and breadth of the country and to Plateau State,” he said.
