Security forces turn back APGA chieftain, Victor Umeh  at Ihiala LG Secretariat

Security agents, on Tuesday, turned back a chieftain of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Victor Umeh, in Ihiala Local Government Area headquarters in Anambra State.

Umeh was said to have arrived at the council secretariat with other party members was confronted by the GOC, 82 Division for showing up where they should not be.

“You are not supposed to be here,” the GOC reportedly screamed at Umeh.

The APGA chieftain also reportedlty responded that he was there “to ensure things go well”.

Recall that voting in the inconclusive Anambra State gubernatorial election, held last Saturday, had been shifted till today (Tuesday).

There was a heavy security presence in Ihiala, on Tuesday, ostensibly to ensure the smooth running of the last lap of the Anambra State governorship election in the locality.

Commissioner of Police in Anambra State, Mr. Echeng Echeng, had confirmed during an interview with Channels TV on Monday evening that the deployment of over one thousand policemen in Ihiala.

According to Mr. Echeng, the policemen are there to provide maximum security, adding that they would be complemented by other security agencies to ensure the smooth completion of the Tuesday polls.

Mr. Echeng, during the uinteriew had said that, “All the tactical teams, Police Mobile Force (PMF) teams, we have pushed enough into Ihiala because we want to make sure that at every point that we anticipate a problem, we dominate the area.

“For whoever wants to come out tomorrow will have his own story to tell.”
