Scores killed as troops intercept bandits’ informants, logistics suppliers

Troops of Operation HARBIN KUNAMA III, on Monday, intercepted informants and logistics suppliers of armed bandits and other criminal activities in Sokoto State.

The success was recorded during the troops patrol in the area. It was gathered that some of the bandits who engaged the military in gun duel lost their lives.

In a statement, released by acting Director, Army Public Relations, Col. Sagir Musa, he said the troops acted on credible intelligence report and arrested the suspects in the act at Bunkusuna market.

In another development, troops, following intelligence gathering of activities of bandits at Magira village, raided the location, and engaged the bandits in a gun battle, killing scores, while others escaped with gunshot injuries.

One soldier was reported killed during the battle.

General Officer Commanding, 8 Division, Maj.-Gen. Hakeem Oladapo Otiki, said that notable among the armed criminals were, Mallam Ibrahim, an informant and notorious bandit, Mallam Ashiru Goni, notorious bandit and courier agent, Mamman Taratse, logistician for the criminals.
