SARS rescues kidnap victim, arrests one in Imo

The Special Anti-Robbery Squad of the Imo State Police Command has rescued a kidnap victim, Kingsley Okeke.

The SARS personnel also arrested one of the suspected kidnappers, Kelechi Darlington.

A statement issued in Owerri by the command’s Public Relations Officer, Orlando Ikeokwu, on Sunday, said the SARS personnel carried out the operation in conjunction with their colleagues from Ohaji Police Division.

The statement indicated that the SARS personnel raided the kidnapers’ den at Umuokanne in the Ohaji/Egbema Local Government Area of the state, rescued one of the victims and arrested one of the suspected abductors on Saturday, June 15, 2019.

The statement explained that the victims were kidnapped on June 14 around the New Owerri area of the state capital.

According to the spokesperson, efforts are on to nab the fleeing suspects.

The statement read in part, “On June 15, the personnel of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad, in conjunction with the officials of the Ohaji Divison, raided a kidnappers’ den at Umuokanne in the Ohaji/Egbema Local Government Area of the state and rescued Okeke Kingsley Uchenna.

“The team also arrested one of the kidnappers, Kelechi Darlington, of Amaimo in the Ikeduru Local Government Area of Imo State.

“The victims were kidnapped at the Magnesium/Westbrook Hotels on June 14 around 10:40pm in a milk Suzuki bus. Efforts are on to arrest the fleeing members of the gang.”
