Sanwo-Olu to unveil Traffic Radio live camera updates

Governor Babajide Sanwo Olu of Lagos State will, on Thursday, unveil a new initiative ‘Live Camera Update Project,’ LCUP by Lagos Traffic Radio, 96.1 FM.
The official inauguration will take place at the Radio House, Lateef Jakande Road, Agidingbi, Ikeja, while the Honorable Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Gbenga Omotoso will be the Chief Host.
According to the Station’s General Manager, Tayo Akanle, while speaking ahead of the unveiling, the technology-driven update would boost traffic reportage and update including travel advisories by providing real time traffic information for the public and commuters within and outside the state.

The General Manager further said the station has been experiencing delays in getting accurate traffic updates to the public but added that the technology-based innovation would solve the issue.
He further said the project which is in partnership with the state’s Ministry of Innovation, Science and Technology was achieved through the live feeds from the Lagos Smart City Project, which includes the CCTV cameras installed on different roads in Lagos.”
“It allows access to these feeds directly from the studios while translating them into real-time traffic information for commuters and motorists in Lagos and beyond”.
He further said the “Motorbike Live Report” which the station started since 2020, has given live reports from about 1,250 incident scene from different locations in Lagos since it birthed.
In order to improve its services to the public, Akanle said the station decided to embrace the technology of live streaming, thus giving its online audience a new experience as they can now view their favorite programmes and presenters through live video from the studio.
