Sanwo-Olu promises robust partnership with surveyors at NIS Investiture

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State, on Thursday, said his administration was committed to upholding the ‘standard of excellence’ set by the Nigerian Institution of Surveyors (NIS) in the delivery of the THEMES + agenda.

Governor Sanwo-Olu was represented by the Secretary to the State Government, SSG, Abimbola Salu-Hundeyin at the 2024 Fellows Investiture of 14 new Fellows of NIS held in Lagos.

He acknowledged the institution’s ‘ long history of excellence’ which he said was characterized by integrity and professionalism.

The governor further said that the collaboration between his administration and institution has brought advancement to the state, adding that his THEMES + agenda can onlu be achieved when ‘’we place infrastructure where it should belong.

He promised his administration will continue to collaborate with the surveyors towards achieving its developmental agenda and making Lagos a mega city and vibrant economy.

Governor Sanwo-Olu urged the new Fellows to show dedication and leadership qualities by leaving an indelible mark.

The Guest Speaker and a member, House of Representatives Ajeromi/Ifelodun Federal Constituency, Lagos, Kalejaiye Paul, who spoke on the “dynamics of leadership and dilemma of
followership”, noted that Nigerians have a role to play in choosing good leaders.

He said many past leaders in Nigeria were not prepared for leadership when they became head of states and presidents.

Kalejaiye called on Nigerians to persevere and be patient with Bola Tinubu’s government, expressing confidence that he would fix the current situation in the country because ‘Tinubu is one of the leaders that prepared well before he became a leader.’

The President of the Nigerian Institution of Surveyors, Mathew Ibitoye, said the programme was a call to greater responsibilities for the Fellows as custodian of professional standards and collective values.

He urged the newly inducted fellows to be exemplary leaders who should be emulated for their significant contributions and innovative skills.

Ibitoye said there was need for continuous growth and improvement on how they administered things.

In his welcome address, the Chairman, Board of Fellows, Olusola Atilola, said the event was to honour members who had made great contributions and achieved standard excellence in their profession, urging them to be loyal and good ambassadors.
