Sanwo-Olu promises funding for MSMEs as WAPA gifts 1,500  beneficiaries working tools

Lagos State governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Wednesday promised more funding for the Micro and Small Medium Enterprises, MSMEs through the Micro Enterprise Support Initiative, MESI.

 

At the 2024 presentation of working tools to 1,500 graduates of  vocational centres, the governor said the initiative was designed to uplift vulnerable women and indigent youths by providing them with the tools and support they need to start and grow their own businesses.

 

Sanwo-Olu assured them that his administration  ‘will continue to monitor and support you and your businesses, as we have been doing for the beneficiaries before you.’

 

The fresh set of 1,500 beneficiaries were from the various government owned training centers across LGA and LCDA in the State  empowered through the ministry of Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, WAPA.

 

According to the Commissioner for Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Bolaji Cecilia Dada, over 10,000 beneficiaries in the last five years have benefitted from the annual empowerment programme.

 

Some of the equipments giving to the graduands include  cake mixer machine, aluminum fabrication machines, 2-phase burner with 12.5kg gas cylinder and 30 inches cooking pot plus 2 giant spoons  for caterers, shawarma toasters, manicure and pedicure sets in bags, barbering kits, tile laying machine etc.
