Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu has launched the new First and Last Mile seven seaters mini buses to replace commercial motorcycles known as Okada.

The governor launched the buses at the Lagos House, Ikeja on Tuesday.

The state government had restricted the operation of Okada riders in some routes in the state and to cushion the effect the restrictions would have on the people, the state governor had promised to introduce alternative mode of transportation.

This is also in line with the agenda of the government to make Lagos a smart city and one of the pillars of the THEMES Agenda of Sanwo-Olu’s administration, which is transporation.

Three hundred buses were provided in the first phase of the implementation and the routes they would ply in the first phase include Ikeja and Ketu, which are categorised as Zone 1.

Zone 2 include Oshodi, Mushin and Surulere under which are Aguda-Iponri-Costain, Aguda to Bode Thomas, Ojuelegba-Kilo-Aguda, Aguda-Doyin-Orile, among others.

Other zones are Yaba/Shomolu/Ojodu Berger as Zone 3, Lagos Island/Eti-Osa/Victoria Island, is Zone 4, while Zone 5 comprises Iyana Ipaja/Agege /Ogba and Zone 7 is Ikorodu.
