Rotary International District 9110, Nigeria will host the Consular General of the Federal Republic of Germany, in Nigeria, Dr. Stefan Traumann, as the Guest Speaker at this year’s edition of Rotary Friendship Night/ The Governor’s Magazine Launch/Awards, holding on Sunday, 19thMay, 2019, at Sheraton Lagos, Hotel and Towers.
At the event, Airtel Nigeria, Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), First Bank, C. WOERMANN (NIGERIA) LTD, Nigerian Stock Exchange, Mitglauben Engineering and Rite Foods Limited, amongst others, will also be rewarded with Rotary Outstanding Invaluable Company Award for their Corporate Social Responsibility efforts. Also some media organisations will get Rotary Outstanding Invaluable Media Company Awards for their invaluable media coverage/reportage of issues that affects humanity. They include; TVC Nigeria, NTA, The Guardian Newspaper and The Nigerian Xpress. Wellbeing Foundation Africa, will also receive the Rotary Outstanding Humanitarian Organisation Award for its consistency in improving health outcome of women and children.
According to Rotarian Arinze Okamelu, Chairman of the District Editorial Committee and Editor-in-Chief of The Governor’s Newsletter and The Governor’s Magazine, ‘the choice of the German envoy as the Guest Speaker is most appropriate as he will be speaking and sharing with Rotarians and friends of Rotary, the German culture, arts, business, way of life, amongst others, as Rotarians prepare to attend their annual Rotary International Convention, holding this year in Hamburg, Germany, between June 1 and June 5, 2019”.

“Also, Rotary District 9110, Nigeria, will be recognizing some corporate organisations, this year, for making commendable impacts in the society through their corporate social responsibility efforts, which are in sync with Rotary’s ideals of serving humanity; touching lives and doing good in the world. The award is poised to appreciate them as Rotary partners, and give them the impetus to do more, towards having a better society”
The event is an annual one, and it is organized on behalf of Rotary District 9110, Nigeria, by its Editorial Committee, publishers of the monthly The Governor’s Newsletter and the annual The Governor’s Magazine.
The Editorial Committee, this year, set up a committee of evaluators, to look into Corporate Social Responsibility projects and programs of companies and their impacts, that are in sync with Rotary ideals of service, especially the ones that are consistent with Rotary’s six areas of focus including Peace and conflict prevention/resolution, Disease prevention and treatment ,Water and sanitation, Maternal and child health, Basic education and literacy and Economic and community development, and the above named companies were selected.
This event has Rotarian Raf Abanum, the MD/CEO of Aston and Waterman Consult Ltd, as the Chairman, and it will be attended by the District Governor, Rotarian Kola Sodipo alongside the District Governor Elect, Dr. ‘Jide Akeredolu; District Governor Nominee, Rotarian Bola Oyebade; District Governor Designate, Alhaji Remi Bello; Past District Governors, District leaders, Rotarians and Rotary friends alike, amongst others.
