Six people have died while one was injured in road crashes in Ibadan which occurred on Thursday and Friday in Ibadan, Oyo State capital.
On Thursday night, one of the accidents occurred at Idi-Ose Bus Stop on the new Ibadan/Oyo expressway in Akinyele area local government which claimed one life while in the early hours of Friday, another five people died in an accident that happened at the front of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation Limited Filling Station on Ojoo/Iwo-Road.
Thursday’s accident reportedly involved a motor boy who died after he fell off from where he was seated and sleeping at the back of a trailer carrying cows as the trailer suddenly veered off the road.
Witnesses said the boy hit his head on the ground which led to his death.
The other five victims who died in the Friday accident were passengers of a commercial Nissan Micra car.
The car conveying the victims reportedly collided with a long truck around 12am, killing all the passengers
While the identities of the driver of the car and the passengers were not known their bodies have been deposited in the mortuary.
Confirming the incidents, the state Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Commission, Rosemary Alo, said the Friday accident involved 12 people out of which five died, one injured and six escaped unhurt.
