Lagos State has recorded a total of 1,367 emergency incidents from January to October 2024, according to data revealed by the Lagos State Emergency Management Authority, LASEMA.
Analysis of the 1,367 incidents attended so far this year by the agency shows that road accidents top the list.
In the road incident category, the truck and tanker category ranks highest with 432 incidents out of which 297 were accidents, seven fallen containers, 110 broken down trucks, three stuck trucks and 15 fallen trucks and tankers.
For smaller vehicles, a total of 354 accidents were recorded with 18 caused by broken down vehicles. Fire category recorded 228 incidents which comprises 211 fire outbreaks, six tanker and truck fires and 11 fire incidents involving cars and BRTs.
Fourth on the list is the medical category with 208 incidents that comprises of seven dead bodies, three suicides and 198 others.
The data also shows other various events within the period under review with 93 incidents two demolitions, one Assault and one Powerline incident each, while building collapse category comprises 30 incidents of 24 building collapses, four partial collapses, one Impending collapse, while the explosion category comprises eight gas explosions rank seventh.
In the Marine category, six flood incidents were recorded with three involving boat capsize rank eighth, while five spillage and leakage incidents involving two gas, one diesel, one pipeline and one gas tanker spills occured.
The 10 months period also witnessed the air and train accidents with three incidents recorded.
Ranking local governments with highest number of incidents, the data revealed that Alimosho local government ranked highest with 29 out of the 147 incidents recorded in the State in October followed by Oshodi/Isolo local government which recorded 20 incidents at second place
Ikeja recorded 18 incidents in third place while Kosofe recorded 14 incidents at fourth place, Eti-Osa came fifth with 12 incidents and Lagos Island recorded 10 incidents in sixth place,
Epe recorded eight incidents in seventh place, while Apapa and Mainland each recorded six incidents in eighth place, just as Agege and Surulere councils recorded five incidents each in ninth place.
Ojo and Mushin council also recorded three incidents each in 10th place, while Shomolu and outside Lagos boundary interventions recorded two incidents each to occupy the 11th place.
Amuwo-Odofin, Ibeju-Lekki, Ikorodu and Ifao-Ijaiye recorded one incident each at the 12th place, while Ajeromi-Ifelodun and Badagry Local Government Areas both recorded no incidents.
