Rivers Collation: Buhari, true democrat, says ILDC

Chief Ugochukwu Nnam, President, Initiative for Leadership Development and Change (ILDC), on Wednesday said that early lead of Governor Nyesom Wike of PDP was a demonstration of President Muhammadu Buhari’s belief in the tenets of democracy.

Nnam told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that PDP’s victory in the announced local governments had vindicated President Buhari as a true democrat.

He said that the APC-led Federal Government in spite of insinuations had remained faithful to the rule of law and defence of democracy.

“Contrary to the position of government traducers, INEC was given free hand to conduct elections.

“Wike’s clear lead shows that all the elections so far supervised by INEC under President Buhari are credible,” Nnam said.

The ILDC boss urged Nigerians to trust INEC, saying that President Buhari was a man of integrity who believed so much in due process.

According to him, President Buhari loves Nigeria dearly and cannot be part of any corrupt or illegal way of doing things.

He said that Nigerians came out in their numbers to validate their belief in President Buhari on March 23 which was a reward for integrity.

Nnam explained that votes counted in the 2019 elections with victory of opposition parties over incumbent APC governors in states like Adamawa and Bauchi.

He noted in spite of the fact that president Buhari won in those states, the APC governors were rejected by their people.

Nnam, who congratulated Nigerians for prevailing of their votes, said credit should go to president Buhari.

NAN reports that Governor Nyesom Wike of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has out of the 15 local governments so far announced by INEC polled 426,369 votes.

While Biokpomabo Awara of African Action Alliance polled 129,855 votes leaving a margin of 296,514 votes.

Two local governments are left to be announced of the 17 confirmed by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) as ready. (NAN)
