No fewer than nine suspects were arrested, on Monday, by operatives of the Lagos State Police Command, during the ‘RevolitionNow’ protest at the National Stadium, Surulere, Lagos.
The protest which was organised by the Presidential candidate of African Action Congress (AAC) in the last general elections in Nigeria, Mr. Omoyele Sowore, was aimed at calling the attention of the government to the many economic and security challenges amongst other issues.
Although The Nigerian Xpress was yet to get confirmation on the arrest as the Lagos Police Spokesman, Elkana Bala was yet to respond to calls and text messages from the correspondent.

However, a reliable source who witnessed the arrests confirmed that at least nine persons were whisked into a waiting black maria with the Lagos State Task Force inscription.
According to the source (name withheld) a reporter with Sahara Reporter, an online news platform owned by Sowore, was part of those arrested by the police.
Police patrol vehicles, including that of the Rapid Respond Squad (RRS), numbering over 20, Armoured Personnel Carriers (APC), anti-riot operatives, Civil defence operatives and military joint Taskforce operatives were stationed at the two main gates of the stadium.
